Destined For Greatness (DFG) Ministry Takes Off

February marked the launch of the new kid on the block in Seapoint, Cape Town at Ritz and the Peninsula hotels consecutively. The church opened its doors on 15 January 2012 with the aim to reach out to non-Christians and all those who want a deeper relationship with God while being empowered to reach their greatness. DFG attracts people from all walks of life with the vision “to preach the gospel in its wholeness, to the whole person in the whole world”.

Founding members, Pastor Thando and Mrs. Mamiki Melane answered the call from God to establish a cosmopolitan ministry that does not only focus on ministering the word, but a word that also empowers the human beings into reaching their full potential. When asked about how the journey began; Pastor Melane said, “My journey with Christ began in 1982 when Rev Mbethe called an alter call after his preaching. I went to the altar to not only accept Christ, but to respond to the calling of becoming a minister of the word. I finally accepted Christ in 1985 and my dedication grew even more at the University Of Fort Hare when I was part of SCM where I met lovely wife Mamiki.”

Based on Pastor Melane’s passion for business and empowering the young and old; he invited the renowned Man of God Pastor Maurice Radebe to minister at the launch. Pastor Radebe is a respected businessman, Minister at Agape Ministry in Sandton, Chairman of Sasol Oil, co-founder of the African Mineral and Energy Forum, Former CEO of Exel Petroleaum. The theme for both days was ‘The impact of the leader who knows his God’ based on the book of Nehemiah. This was influenced by his conversation with Pastor Melane who has a passion for impacting lives and assisting people to reach their ordained greatness through Christ hence the name ‘Destined for Greatness’.

DFG is truly striving to be a cosmopolitan church, it was evident at the launch, among the people who attended to mention a few, Prof Lulu Tshiwula, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of the Western Cape, Sylvester of the Joyous Celebration group was the Master of Ceremony.
